From Markus Grae-Hauck, Director of Music Ministries
Recently I drove to a home improvement store to pick up a few items I had ordered online. It was shortly after 6 in the morning, and there were virtually no other customers, so a store associate took care of me right away. It took a few minutes for her colleague to retrieve the materials, and after I signed the receipt, the cashier said to me, “Thank you for your patience.” We were both wearing masks, but I could see from her eyes that she was smiling. I smiled back and said, “Thank you for your service.”
As we are becoming more accustomed to being holed up in our homes, working remotely, and taking precautions when we go out in public spaces, one question that has been emerging from conversations with family members and friends is, what do we want to keep when this is all over? Instead of going back to business as usual, what are some of the things we are learning about now that we can hold on to, even when we no longer need to?
I am putting kindness at the top of my list.
