Our Ministers

Our congregation was founded in 1897 by a group of women seeking liberal religious education for their children and has a history of long-term settled ministry.

Senior Co-Minister

Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael

Central to Rev. Anya's current ministry is the honest confrontation necessary to dismantle white supremacy, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism.

Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael

Senior Co-Minister

Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael

A "Religious, Naturalist Mystic," Rev Scott strives to embody service to our holy mission to build Beloved Community, together, in covenant.

Until we meet again, virtually or otherwise, you are in our hearts.

The Danger of Sainthood

The Danger of Sainthood

January 8, 2023

“The Danger of Sainthood” — led by the Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael. Centering voices from the margins is required for us to live into our vision of justice. But what happens when we beautify leaders of our justice movements? Join Rev. Scott as we explore keeping a balance between admiration and imitation, between living the lessons of our prophets and simply mouthing their words.

Out of the Flames

Out of the Flames

January 1, 2023

01-01-23 UUCM New Year's Day Jazz Brunch and Worship Service "Out of the Flames" - led by the Revs. Anya and Scott Sammler-Michael. This very special worship event includes live jazz and a fire communion. We will set the past years refuse aflame and prepare emotionally and spiritually for the good that will come.

Christmas Presence

Christmas Presence

December 25, 2022

"Christmas Presence" - led by the Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael, senior co-minister. This is the time of the year for story telling. In ancient cultures stories were shared only during the dark and cold months of the year - times when warm hearth fires drew people close to one another in community.

Molly, UUCM Religious Education graduate

I am proud to have grown up in this congregation. I learned here to become a compassionate and passionate advocate for social justice on all fronts.

Join us as we counter white supremacy, fight climate change, protect voting rights, witness border injustices, and more.

Share your gifts and help us build Beloved Community.

Whether it is in a classroom, in worship, planting flowers, or on the pledge team, we need your special skills!
